Apple’s iOS 8 brought a handful of systemwide changes to how users capture and interact with their iPhone’s cameras. One of the most welcomed upgrades was the opening up of CameraKit, which now allows users to have complete control over manual camera functions.

Developers anxiously dug into the SDK and one by one started cranking out apps that offered up the best manual camera experience. I’ve tried nearly every one of them to hit the app store, but a particular newcomer has stood out among the rest. It’s called Reuk and it’s quickly become my go-to app for complete control over my iPhoneography.

Reuk features a simple interface with efficient slider controls to make sure you capture just what you want. Shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and more offer robust controls with a simple sliding motion. Manual focus, a timer, a level and a grid option ensure your images are composed exactly as wanted.

As with most other apps, it’s the small details that sets Reuk apart. Unlike many other camera apps, Reuk’s viewfinder shows 100% of what you capture. This means what you see is truly what you get – nothing more, nothing less. Additionally, unlike other manual camera apps, the slider functionality is smooth and quick, updating the live view as you change settings.

Reuk is available for $.99 in the iOS App Store. Take it for a spin and let us know your thoughts!
