Impressive doesn’t need to be synonymous with expensive. To prove this point is Aaron Nace of Phlearn. In the 7-minute video, Nace explains how you can create a stunning portrait using a DIY light kit that costs less than $50 to make.

In addition to showing you how to make the DIY continuous light kit, Nace also dives into the basics of lighting. In particular, he explains the differences between main lights, fill lights and accent lights, and the role each one plays in lighting your subject.

Towards the end, Nace also highlights a few tips for posing your subject – an oft-overlooked aspect of studio photography that plays a vital role in how your shots turn out

This is a great video to watch if you’re looking to get into studio photography. That being said, you don’t have to be a beginner to take something away from it.
