A recently published patent from Sigma details the optical formula for an image-stabilized 400mm f/2.8 super-telephoto lens.

The patent, which was discovered by Egami and originally filed back in September of 2013, shows off a five-group lens design featuring Sigma’s Optical Stabilizer technology. It’s expected this lens will be a part of Sigma’s ‘Sport’ lineup, alongside its ‘Contemporary’ and ‘Art’ lens categories.

The performance of the lens is teased in the above graphic, but it doesn’t give us much to work with. However, if other lenses in Sigma’s lineup as of late are anything to go off of, this might give the almighty Canon and Nikon 400mm f/2.8 a run for their money.
