The Blues and Greens reign supreme: We unveil our March Photo of the Day monthly winners

Peaceful tranquility and conforting shades of blues and greens, from a frozen pier to a tropical swim.... these are the images that won and placed in our March Photo of the Day contest, and they're a fitting way to usher out the winter and bring in the spring.
Taking top honors with his trusty Canon 40D, 300mm f/4 and a 1.4x teleconverter, long time successful regular Jimmy Marz brings us a compelling image of an otherwise ordinary frog. The body is nice and sharp while the water and bokeh in front and behind frame him for a very nice visual. You'll want to make sure and click on this one to see the larger version. Jimmy won a $300 gift certificate from Adorama for his efforts here.
Next up in second prize and winning a $200 gift certificate is Tiffany Mueller with a Nikon D7000, presumably in an underwater housing. The use of black and white in a traditional colorful environment is one of the things that drew the judges to this image, among other things like a slightly off-the-beaten-path composition. "Against The Grain" indeed. Well done, Tiffany!
And for our third prize and taking home a $100 gift certificate we present a truly gorgeous image from our regular Gus Panella of, as the title aptly suggests, a frozen pier and clouds. The symmetry of the shapes is certainly compelling and draws the viewer into the image, and the pleasing color of the ocean adds to the serenity of the peaceful shot. (My morning coffee tasted all the better while contemplating this image.)
Lastly we offer up our runner's up for March, with a beautiful image of flower petals from Teddy Indra of India and a terrific landscape shot from New Zealand by Raghu.
Thanks so much to everyone who enters our Photo of the Day contest, and congratulations to the winners this month! The top three all receive gift certificates from Adorama of $300, $200 and $100, respectively. Please keep the wonderful submissions coming our way! [International readers are welcome to enter, but only US and Canada residents are eligible to win prizes due to regulations.]
