Canon USA video shares the science behind its 4K optics

 

 

Canon USA has posted an informational  video to YouTube that dives into the process and technologies behind its growing line of 4K lenses.

Just shy of three and a half minutes long, the video breaks down the four main components that determine the quality of most any lens: resolving power, contrast ratio, lateral chromatic aberration and modulation transfer function.

If you don’t know what one or more of those are, don’t worry. The video breaks down each aspect into more simple terms and explains how they affect the image quality.

The video does come off as a slight commercial for Canon and its lineup of lenses, but the animation makes it fun to follow along and the information is always worth learning.
