The chaos of nature and humanity: We unveil our May prize winners for our Photo of the Day contest

The Photo of the Day judges at Imaging Resource enjoy both the beautiful and the serene as elements in a great photograph, perhaps as a needed respite from our chaotic work days. As such, many of our winners and runner's-up from this year have fallen into these categories, as our faithful contest followers and participants can knowingly attest.
May's voting results shake things up in our contest, bringing a bit of balancing chaos to the tranquility and perhaps as a testament to Spring, the most volatile season of all. We start with one of our long-time contributors, Mike DiRenzo and his trusty Canon 5D Mark II, bringing us "Monsoon in the Canyon" - a truly gorgeous and surreal depiction of nature's fury overtaking the tranquility of sunrise in the desert.

A big IR thanks to Mike for this and the many wonderful submission's he's sent to us over the years!

Taking second prize for May is Darryl Chiew with an Olympus E-M1, bringing us an incredible image of a forlorn lone biker amongst a virutal sea of parked bikes. The judges were quite enamoured with this one, and it was a virtual toss-up for the number one and two spots this month. (It's a good thing we award three prizes.)
Congratulations to Darryl for this intriguing image!
And taking third prize this month is Noor Eva with a Nikon P600, bringing us a cleverly conceived image of a leopard drying off. It's a compelling image and a great contrast to the typical zoo shots we often receive.
Thanks for a great shot, Noor!
Both of our runner-up images this month are from long-time regulars Nikki McDonald and Frank Somma, and bring us back to tranquility and harmony, restoring the balance.
Thanks to both of you for these wonderful images and for being faithful, long-time contributors to our contest!
Thanks so much to everyone who enters our Photo of the Day contest. The top three prize winning images all receive gift certificates from Adorama of $300, $200 and $100, respectively. [International readers are welcome to enter, but only US and Canada residents are eligible to win prizes due to regulations.]
