Almost three years after Instagram launched its limited browser-based experience, the Facebook-owned company has finally added a few new features to make the desktop extension of the application a bit more useful. Specifically, Instagram is bringing a number of new search features to the browser experience.

Now, you can search for hashtags, user accounts and locations directly from your desktop, something that was previously only available in the mobile app. Additionally, Instagram has updated the landing page when searching for locations and hashtags, showing the most popular photos for your respective search, a feature first seen in Instagram’s latest mobile app update.

It’s long been clear that Instagram’s presence on the web is second priority to its mobile application, and it doesn’t look like that’s changing anytime soon. Regardless, the new search features are more than welcomed.
