Drones are becoming less expensive and more accessible than ever. But sometimes it’s worth it to just outsource the work to someone else who already has the time, equipment and knowledge.

To help ease the processing of hiring a third party a new service called Drone Base is setting up a peer-to-peer network where pilots can hire themselves out to individuals or companies looking for drone footage.

On Drone Base’s site, they specifically mention using their services for real estate and construction purposes, but the possibilities are essentially endless, so long as permits aren’t a problem.

Below is some sample footage from Drone Base pilots:

For those hiring a pilot, the process is simple: book the service, explain the location of what you want to be scanned/filmed and at the designated time, a pilot will show up to get the job done.

What you get depends on what package you purchase. Basic starts out at $399 and gets you 10–15 high-res images, unedited HD video and 1–2 week turnaround at a single location. Prices go up if you’re looking for more images, edited video and multiple locations.

If you’re a drone owner looking to be a pilot, you can apply on Drone Base’s website. You get paid a minimum of $300 per job and it’s done as an independent contractor, giving you the freedom to essentially make your own schedule.

For more information and to sign up as either a pilot or consumer, head on over to Drone Base’s website.
