Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner! IR reader Kay Brewer's captivating image of a Cardinal in flight won our Olympus By The Bay (#olympusbythebay) contest and the Grand Prize - a $2500 photography workshop on Smith Island with Olympus visionary Jay Dickman.
We were thrilled to get the chance to work with Olympus on this contest, and to have the honor of selecting the winning image. There were many terrific photographs that made their way to the final cut, but in the end, it was a unanimous decision to select Kay's photo as the contest winner.
Olympus Visionary Jay Dickman is a National Geographic photographer and a Pulitzer Prize winner, and one of the best photo educators we've met. His First Light Workshops are a terrific way to further hone your photography skills. What makes them special is Jay's in-depth feedback after every day's shooting, giving you new skills and insights to apply on the following day's outing.
In this coming workshop, participants including Ms. Brewer will be shooting in a remote fishing village on the Chesapeake Bay, with the excellent Olympus E-M5 II and a bevy of fine Olympus glass. They'll be well off the beaten path and away from the typical tourist scene; in fact, some locations they'll be visiting are accessible only by boat. (Water transportation provided by a local friend of Jay's.)
All in all, a fantastic prize for a great photo by one of our so-talented readers!
A big IR congratulations to Ms. Brewer, and best wishes for an exciting time on Smith Island! (We'd love to share some of your photos and experiences with readers, once you get back!)
