Almost two years ago, photo essay platform Exposure was brought to life by the team at Elepath. Since then Exposure has been spun off and grown into a massive photography-centric platform with over 72,000 members, tens of thousands of stories and over 1.5 million photos on their servers.

As do many startups, Exposure started off with somewhat of a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). That is, Exposure’s online photo- essay platform was very basic in its functionality; rather than building all features into the platform at first, they decided to start with the most basic functionality and add on features little by little as the user base and revenue grew.

As the above numbers highlight, the strategy proved successful. But Exposure isn't done yet. In fact, they're just getting started.

Today, Exposure announced Exposure Labs, its biggest announcement since the introduction of Exposure itself. As explained in the announcement post, Exposure Labs is an internal subsidiary of sorts that will utilize Exposure’s human resources to create ‘beautiful, photography-centric social products that are tasteful, trusted, and sustainable.’

Exposure has already tackled the first market it went after and now it – rightfully – wants more. After all, the photography world as a whole could benefit greatly from Exposure’s clean and efficient designs.

Thus, in addition to announcing Exposure Labs, the Exposure team also announced its first product from the lab, StatShot, an app that ‘delivers simple and clear Instagram stats right to your inbox.’

The app connects to as many Instagram accounts as you need and emails you daily, weekly or monthly summaries of your Instagram analytics. You can track a hashtag, create custom metrics and even add multiple email accounts to that your entire team can keep up to date on the numbers.

StatShot is free for anyone with up to 5,000 followers and increases $5 per month as you or your company hits the 10K, 25K, 50K, 100K, 250K and 500K follower milestones. If you have more than that, Exposure Labs asks you to contact them.

Today’s announcements from exposure might seem like a small step, but for what was once a side project, the introduction of Exposure Labs and StatShot is a huge one for the creators. To read up more, you can head on over to the announcement post and visit StatShot’s website to log in with Instagram.
