It’s safe to say you probably have more than enough images of your own to supply your digital wallpaper needs for a few decades. But sometimes you want the work of others to adorn your smartphone’s display, whether it’s as a means of inspiration or just a breath of fresh air so you aren’t always staring at your own work.

Here to help with that is Wonderwall, a new ‘photographer-friendly’ Android app that provides you with a new hand-picked landscape wallpaper every day. I emphasize ‘photographer-friendly’, as creator Ignace Maes says the point of the app is for it to be a ‘win-win’ for both the photographer whose work is featured, as well as the end user.

Not only does Wonderwall grab photos that are licensed under sharing licenses, but it also displays the name of the photographer and links back to the original work, ensuring the photographer gets due credit while the end-user gets a beautiful, landscape wallpaper.

Within Wonderwall, there are a handful of features that let you customize your experience with the app. You can either set your wallpapers yourself or let Wonderwall’s Autoset feature do it for you at an interval of your choosing. If data is a concern, you can set Wonderwall up to only download new images when connected to WiFi. If one wallpaper in particular catches your eye, you can favorite it to use at a later time.

Also included is the option to submit your own wallpaper on Wonderwall for users around the world to set as their wallpaper.

It’s a fairly simple app that serves a single purpose. But its significance lies in the fact that its creator has done what many wallpaper apps fail to do – credit the original creators, let alone link back to the original work.

To take Wonderwall for a spin, head on over to the Google Play Store and download it for free.
