Unsafe conditions, reduce speed: DJI Inspire 2 not as fast as originally announced

In mid-November, DJI announced their new DJI Inspire 2 drone, which was advertised to be faster, lighter and offering better imaging capabilities. All of that should still hold true when the Inspire 2 starts shipping in December, but DJI has announced that the top speed of the Inspire 2 will not be as high as previously disclosed. The original announcement declared the top speed of the Inspire 2 to be 67 miles per hour, but the new top speed is listed at 58 mph. Further, the new drone will take five seconds to reach 50 mph rather than four seconds. Nonetheless, the Inspire 2 still out speeds its predecessor by 8 mph.
Why the change? DJI says that the updated speed specs are “necessary to ensure speed does not compromise video quality and stability.” Its target audience is certainly videographers rather than racers, so ensuring optimal performance for its primary purpose is of utmost concern. Not happy with the change in top speed? DJI will offer you a full refund if you’ve already preordered the device.
