KitSplit acquires CameraLends, providing content creators the largest peer-to-peer rental market

Peer-to-peer gear rental has become more popular in recent years with the advent of east coast-based KitSplit and CameraLends out west. Customers now have a larger single pool of gear to choose from as KitSplit has announced that they have acquired CameraLends. CameraLends started in 2013 in San Francisco and their founder, Adam Derewecki, will be joining KitSplit in an advisory role following the sale of his company.
What this move means for KitSplit users and former CameraLends users is that they now have access to tens of millions of dollars worth of camera gear. KitSplit allows users to rent out their own gear and rent gear that they would like to use.
This is a big move for KitSplit, who launched a little over a year ago, as they work toward providing content creators access to as much affordable gear as possible. KitSplit cofounder and CEO Lisbeth Kaufman said of the acquisition, “The CameraLends acquisition will further our goals of democratizing access to great gear and empowering creators.”
