Not your typical pipe dream: Build a soft-focus, Lensbaby-esque DSLR lens for under $15

Do you want the Lensbaby look without paying the Lensbaby price? Photographer Randy Snook has created a tutorial that shows you how to make your own soft focus DSLR lens for around US$15, which he calls "The Pipe Dream."
Why Pipe Dream? Because you make the lens using a pipe. You need a PVC joint union pipe piece, a single element positive meniscus lens, a reverse adapter ring from 55mm to your camera mount, black spray paint and glue. These items can be purchased for less than $15 and you might even have some of them lying around.
To see how to construct the Pipe Dream, watch the video below. It is a simple process, but it might take a few tries to get the reverse adapter ring aligned correctly. For sample images and a detailed materials list, watch the entire video.
