It appears inevitable that Fujifilm will be launching Fujifilm Professional Services alongside the GFX 50S. Fujifilm has officially announced a new Professional Service for Europe already and rumors are suggesting a similar service will launch in the USA.
The European launch will be “dedicated to the needs of professional photographers, incorporating both GFX and top ‘X’ cameras and lenses.” Fujifilm caters to many professionals and offers high-end service at its three European service centers located in the United Kingdom, France and Portugal. The new Fujifilm Professional Service will launch on March 1 in the company’s largest European markets, including the United Kingdom and Germany, before rolling out to all major markets, such as Turkey and Russia, throughout 2017.
For qualified photographers, which includes all working photographers and to those who own a GFX system or two professional camera bodies and three XF lenses, the service will be free for two years. Other photographers can purchase the service for €300 (£260) per year, which amounts to a bit over US$300 at current exchange rates. What do you get with the new service? A guaranteed maximum turnaround time of 15 days (between pick-up and delivery) for an X series camera and lenses and a maximum turnaround time of 10 days for GFX bodies and lenses. Additionally, Fujifilm will offer photographers a free loan while their gear is being repaired. You also receive a free health check and sensor cleaning per year for up to 2 products, dedicated phone support and a 15% discount on out-of-warranty repairs.
When the service is inevitably introduced for the USA, it is not clear if it will offer the same benefits as the European service or if its qualifications will differ.
