Have you ever been inconvenienced by having to switch lenses? Have you ever wished you could have a few lenses within hands’ reach? If so, Swedish startup Frii Designs has a potential solution for you, the TriLens.
Frii Designs was started by event photographer Jonas Lundin and his TriLens product is aimed at making it easier than ever to quickly change lenses and make sure that you capture every moment. “There’s nothing worse than coming home from a photo shoot and realize that you’ve missed irreplaceable moments because you struggled with changing lenses, or that you simply were too lazy to go through the process,” Lundin says.
The TriLens is a swiveling trio of lens mounts that is attached to your belt, keeping your lenses on your hip. It’s more sophisticated than a simple triplet of mounts, however, as it also has built-in stabilization via adjustable friction, keeping your lenses stable as you walk or run. The TriLens swivels such that the heaviest lens is always pointed down, which should help with stability as well.
An empty TriLens weighs just over a pound and will be available in versions compatible to Canon, Nikon and Sony E-mount with diameters up to 3 and 5/8 inches. Micro Four Thirds and Pentax K shooters, stay tuned, Frii Designs hopes to have compatible TriLenses for you later this year. The TriLens is constructed using strong steel and fiber-reinforced nylon. Another feature of TriLens is that it comes with five sets of magnetic arcs, which can be attached to your lens caps so that they can be magnetically attached to an empty TriLens mount when you’re busy shooting.
The Kickstarter campaign for TriLens, which is aiming for 600 preorders, will begin on May 9. If you’re interested, be sure to bookmark this page. There is no information available yet on price.
