Earlier this year to celebrate their 25th anniversay of Premiere Pro, Adobe put on a compeition caleld "Make the Cut." In it, creative editors (both professional and aspiring) were asked to edit a video of Imagine Dragons using exclusive footage shot of their single "Believer" (which were provided by director Matt Eastin). Make the Cut received nearly 9,000 submissions from 28 countries, including cuts from the UK, Germany, India, Japan, the Philippines and Norfolk Island. Adobe says 60% of the entries came from young creators under the age of 25. The winning cuts are, in my personal opinion, really impressive.

Here are the winners in each category, along with a caption from Adobe regarding their selection:

Grand Prize: Adam H., USA

The top video, judged on originality and creativity, use of Premiere Pro CC, and overall appeal.

Fan Favorite: Chris G., USA

The most liked video by fans on the Adobe Creative Cloud Channel on YouTube.

Most Unexpected: Timo H., The Netherlands

We had no idea what you’d come up with, but this video knocked our socks off.

Best Young Creator: Nicolas B., France

The best up and coming editor under 25 years old.

Best Short Form: Lucia N., Spain

The most impressive video that’s 30-60 seconds long.

Best Use of Stock: Micah S., USA

The video with the most creative use of supplied Adobe Stock footage.

On a final note, hats off to the judges who had to watch, and hear, this song at least 9000 times. To go through that is no small feat, and being able to objectively judge pieces after watching so many is something to be commended. For more on Make the Cut and the result, head over the Adobe Blog
