With new cameras and technology, there’s always a risk of compatibility issues with third-party lenses and equipment. Unfortunately Sigma has announced that they have discovered an issue with their Sigma Mount Converter MC-11 and the new Sony A9.
When using the Sigma Mount Converter MC-11, either the EF-E to SA-E versions, some of Sigma’s interchangeable zoom lenses may not offer accurate autofocus performance. When using an adapted Sigma zoom lens with the Sony A9 in AF-S mode and focusing on a subject in the telephoto range, the camera may incorrectly show that the lens is focused when it is not.
Sigma apologizes for the inconvenience and are currently investigating the situation. They will release further information as it becomes available. Readers with the Sony A9 and Sigma MC-11 converter, have you experienced this issue? Sony A9 owners in general, have you experienced any third-party compatibility or performance issues with your brand-new camera? Let us know in the comments below.
