This new version features Dual Micro Processing Units (MPU) for faster autofocus with improved accuracy, as well as improved Vibration Compensation (VC) rated for five stops of stabilization, the highest of any 24-70mm f/2.8 DSLR lens as of May 2017 according to the company.

The Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 G2 lens will be available in Canon EF and Nikon F mounts, with the Canon mount releasing in September and the Nikon arriving earlier in August. Both versions will retail for just under US$1,200. For more details, see our Tamron 24-70 G2 preview.
