How often have you been out in the field and wished you didn't have to carry so much gear in your backpack or wished something could be within a hand's reach? If you're like me, it happens quite a lot. I've tried carrying gear in a jacket, but jackets aren't designed with photographers in mind…until now. Pixentu has launched a new Kickstarter campaign for a jacket for photographers.

The jacket has an extended hood so that you can shoot in the rain while keeping the elements off your gear, a travel tripod compartment (it would have to be a very small tripod, I'm sure), an isolated lens compartment, a camera compartment, a pocket for film canisters, storage for memory cards, extra batteries and more. I am personally a bit skeptical about being able to comfortably carry everything I store in my backpack in a jacket, but it would be nice to have jacket pockets designed specifically for camera gear. Plus having your valuables in your jacket seems more secure than having them in a bag on your back.

At the time of writing, the campaign is nearing its funding goal with 37 days remaining in the campaign, so it looks promising that photographers wanting a photography jacket will get their wish with Pixentu. With a pledge of around US$130, you can secure a "super early bird" Pixentu jacket in navy blue or black and the style and size of your choice. You can learn more about Pixentu by clicking here
