Last month, Tamron announced the development of their new 100-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD lens, but did not disclose pricing or availability information at that time. At this year's PhotoPlus Expo, Tamron announced that the "lightest lens in its class" will be available on November 16 for US$799 in full-frame Canon and Nikon mounts.
The full-frame telephoto zoom lens includes 4-stop vibration compensation, an "advanced optical design" including three low dispersion lens elements and Tamron's eBAND Coating for "superior" anti-reflection performance. The 39.3-ounce (1,114 grams) lens is compatible with Tamron's 1.4x teleconverter and the company's TAP-in Console, which allows users to customize focus and Vibration Compensation performance.
