Pixelmator Pro now available for Mac: Built from the ground-up to leverage Apple’s latest technologies

 

 

Pixelmator Pro 1.0 Whirlwind is now available on the Mac App Store. The professional-grade photo editing software utilizes a modern single-window interface and delivers nondestructive image editing tools. There are even machine learning editing features too. One of Pixelmator's founders, Saulius Dailide, says of the release, "We're incredibly excited to finally release Pixelmator Pro on the Mac App Store. Its innovative, user-centered design makes editing images on a Mac simpler than ever. And with its GPU-powered and machine learning-enhanced editing tools, Pixelmator Pro is built for the future."

As you can see in the screenshot below, the dark user interface is very much inspired by the overall look of macOS. The app is designed to be easy to use for beginners while still offering advanced image adjustments which will appeal to veteran photographers.

 

 

To make the app run quickly on Mac, the team has utilized Apple's latest Metal 2, Core Image and OpenGL technologies. The software has been built from the ground up using Apple's Swift 4 coding language and leverages your Mac's GPU to deliver fast image editing performance.
