Hitting theatres last Friday, Proud Mary is a new action film starring Taraji P. Henson, who you might be familiar with from the television shows Empire and Person of Interest. While blockbuster movies are typically out of our wheelhouse here at Imaging Resource, Proud Mary is interesting to Sony fans in particular because it was filmed using the Sony A7S II, Sony A9 and the Sony RX0.
The A7S II and A9 were used due to the fast-paced nature of the film and their large sensors. Further, footage recorded with both cameras was easy to cut together while maintaining a consistent look and feel. The RX0, on the other hand, was selected for use in filming high-speed chases. Executive Producer Glenn S. Gainor said of the RX0, "Proud Mary is the first movie where the RX0s have been used." That's a neat accomplishment for the remarkably compact RX0.
