When Panasonic launched the ZS100 compact travel zoom camera in March of 2016, we were impressed by the camera's image quality and its impressive 4K video and 4K PHOTO features. However, we were a bit let down by the camera's ergonomics and lens performance. The Panasonic ZS200 addresses both of these issues and much more.
The ZS200 has new front and back grips, and in a press briefing for the camera we found it much more comfortable to hold. Further, its electronic viewfinder has been upgraded with a much higher resolution display. Regarding the optics, the ZS100's 25-250mm equivalent lens has been replaced with a 24-360mm equivalent built-in zoom. This 15x zoom is the most zoom on any 1-inch travel zoom camera. Plus the camera has 5-axis image stabilization to help you keep your shots sharp, even when you're at 360mm. (Again, a brief glipmse of this in a press briefing showed it to be amazing... so stay tuned!)
Other aspects of the camera remain the same as its predecessor, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The 20-megapixel sensor performed well for the ZS100 and we expect much of the same from the ZS200. The camera is equipped with 4K/30p video capabilities which is very impressive for a camera of this class.
