Fast, sleek and manual focus: Rokinon announces SP 50mm f/1.2 full-frame standard prime for Canon

Last year, Rokinon launched their SP series for Canon full-frame cameras with the SP 14mm f/2.4 and SP 85mm f/1.2, two distinctly fast prime lenses. This year, they kicked things off with the autofocus 14mm f/2.8 and now they're following with the SP 50mm f/1.2 standard prime.
While not equipped with autofocus, the SP 50mm f/1.2 employs numerous advanced optical technologies including aspherical and high refractive lens elements. In total, the lens has one of each special element among its 11 elements spread across 8 groups. The fast prime has nine aperture diaphragm blades to help create smooth, pleasing bokeh.
The lens is constructed using aluminum, which doesn't actually result in a particularly lightweight design. The SP 50mm f/1.2 weighs 2.65 pounds (1.2 kilograms) and is 4.62 inches (117.4 millimeters) long with a maximum diameter of 3.66 inches (93 millimeters). The manual focus lens can close focus to 1.48 feet (45 centimeters), resulting in a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:5.8.
Shipping in April, the Rokinon SP 50mm f/1.2 will retail for $999 and be available only for Canon EF mount. You can preorder the lens through the link below.
