Photoshop blending modes for photographers: Which ones are most useful for improving your images?

 

 

If you're new to Photoshop, blending modes can be a bit overwhelming. It's not always clear how different blending modes can help you improve your photo editing, but they are very powerful editing tools. Photographer and educator Serge Ramelli has made a new video covering which blending modes are most useful for photographers and how best to utilize them.

For example, the "multiply" blend mode can be very useful for performing sky replacement in Photoshop. Another useful blending mode is "overlay," which is the ideal blend mode for working on dodging and burning adjustments.
