Converting a daytime shot to a nighttime shot in 3 steps using Photoshop

 

 

Photographer Colin Smith produces many excellent Photoshop and Lightroom tutorials. His latest shows us how to turn a daytime image into a convincing nighttime image through three steps.

Turning a daytime street image into a night shot takes a lot of work, but as we can see in the video below, it can be done and it doesn't need to be complex. Smith starts with the sky and replaces it with a nighttime sky with a large moon. Afterwards, it's time to focus on the foreground. After all, a bright foreground with a night sky doesn't make a lot of sense. After darkening the foreground, Smith adds light to lamps along the cobbled street.
