Using Lightroom to transform a photo from bland to dynamic

 

 

Photographer Thomas Heaton headed out on a stormy day at the beach to capture some nice seascape images. The issue was that Heaton didn't find the image to be very pleasing when he first looked at it. However, with some editing, he was able to rescue it.

In the video below, we get to see Heaton's Lightroom editing process in action. In particular, he utilizes the split toning tool within Lightroom to selectively edit his image and add warmth and color to particular areas of the frame. While obviously it's ideal to get as much right in camera as possible, sometimes extensive processing is needed and can transform an average image into a great one.
