Should you shoot with the same camera as your favorite photographer?

When trying to choose a first camera or perhaps just your next one, should the camera your favorite photographer uses factor into your decision? This is the topic of the latest video from Tony & Chelsea Northrup.
Suppose your favorite photographer shoots with Canon gear, should you then shoot with Canon gear? It's likely the case that your favorite shutterbug is creating awesome images, so it might make sense to think that you should use the same gear as them. Right? Well, maybe not. There are many different camera brands and specific models out there being used by pros across all genres of photography and all of them are very capable devices. Now there are better and worse cameras for different jobs, of course. A Nikon D5 is likely a better choice for wildlife photography than say, a Fujifilm X-Pro2, for example.
Ultimately, it's more about the photographer than it is about the gear. With that said, if someone you admire and whose judgement you trust makes a specific decision, there's likely a good reason behind the decision.
