Landscape selfies: Creating a sense of scale in your landscape photography

When you are out photographing landscapes, it's very easy to get a sense of scale. After all, you're there, taking it all in. How do you convey the grand scale to a person who will only see your two-dimensional representation of the scene?
Photographer Nigel Danson recommends trying to include a person in your scene, it can even be yourself! By including a person, you present something immediately familiar and knowable to your viewer, allowing them to compare the size of areas in the landscape to the person. Below, Danson offers a few tips which will allow you to capture great landscape "selfie" images and better illustrate the grand scale of your scene.
