There are a lot of components to a good portrait, including lighting setup, lens selection and much more. One of the most important components is the subject. If you are working with a professional model, they may be very good at posing and won’t need much direction. However, if you are working with someone less experienced or capturing a portrait of someone who is not a model, you will need to help them pose correctly. This is a challenging part of the process for many photographers, as it’s a different kind of skillset.
