Portraits with the Sony A7 III and A7R III: How portrait photographer Manny Ortiz sets up his cameras

Photographer Manny Ortiz specializes in portrait and for the last four years, it's been almost exclusively the type of photography he has done with his Sony cameras. Drawing on his experience, Ortiz has made a new video wherein he discusses and shares his camera settings for portraiture using Sony A7 III and Sony A7R III mirrorless cameras.
For Ortiz, setting up his custom button assignments comes down to how frequently he uses certain features and needs to adjust specific settings. For example, he regularly shoots with flash and when he puts a flash trigger on his camera, it automatically adjusts the brightness of live view. This means that if he wants to evaluate ambient light, he needs to enable "shot result preview," so he has that set to his third custom button. Another feature he uses a lot is eye AF, which he has mapped to the AE-L button his cameras.
When working with models, Ortiz likes to have the model evaluate the images he shot. He has adjusted his playback settings so that the model can use Ortiz's camera after the shoot and press a custom button to assign star ratings to images. When Ortiz imports the shots into Lightroom later, he can see which images the model liked best which helps Ortiz cut down on the time spent selecting images to edit.
