Enhancing eyes in Photoshop: Bringing out the best in any subject’s eyes

Eyes get a lot of attention in portraits, and for good reason. When you connect with a subject through an image, it's almost always through the eyes. This is part of the reason why the focus point in a portrait is usually on an eye and why eye detect autofocus is an important and evolving feature in modern cameras. However, you aren't done with the eyes at the time of capture. You can enhance eyes during post-processing to help improve your images.
In the video below, Aaron Nace of Phlearn shows off how to use Adobe Photoshop to bring out the best in any set of eyes. The techniques below involve using curves adjustments to adjust shadows and highlights and even adjust the color of eyes using fill layers. Finally, to add a finishing touch, you can use an unsharp mask to selectively sharpen a subject's eyes. See the techniques in action in the full video below.
