There are many ways to improve your landscape photography. In the video below, photographer Nigel Danson shares a tip that he thinks is the best thing you can do to improve your landscape images the most.
By slowing down in the field, you will be able to get the most out of your chosen location. It can be very tempting to grab a handful shots at a location and then feel like you're done with it and move on to another spot. However, Danson argues that it's important to slow down and take your time. Don't rush from one spot to the next, but rather, explore an area, carefully consider different compositions and experiment.
It's important to understand the location in which you are shooting in order to capture better images. To understand a location, you must spend time there, there's no substitute for thoughtful exploration. "By spending more time there, what happens is you get in tune with the landscape, you start to uncover things you didn't see when you first arrived there…" Danson says in the video below.
