Food is not only tasty, it can be an interesting photographic subject too. Food photography is one of the most popular genres of photography, as is evidenced by so many people photographing their food before digging in while at restaurants. In the newest episode of How to Photograph Everything, photographer and educator Tamara Lackey breaks down how to capture better food images.
You don't need a lot of equipment to capture awesome food shots. Using natural light and minimal equipment, such as a reflector, there's a lot you can do. You will want to use a lens that allows you to get close to your subject, but it doesn't necessarily need to be a macro lens. For example, Lackey is using a Nikon Z series camera with the 24-70mm f/4 Nikkor Z kit lens. After capturing some photos, Lackey goes through a basic editing process in ON1 Photo RAW 2019.
