Zhongyi Optics (ZY Optics) has announced a new version of their popular Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 prime lens. The ZY 50mm f/0.95 Mark III has been designed for the latest mirrorless cameras and will be released in Canon RF, Nikon Z and Sony FE lens mounts.
The compact prime lens is characterized by its fast f/0.95 aperture, which makes it well-suited for low-light photography and situations in which a photographer wants a shallow depth of field. The new version features a new optical design, which results in a smaller lens and better resistance to lens flare. In total, the Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 III includes 10 lens elements across 7 groups, including a single High Refractive Index and 5 ultra-low dispersion elements. To help deliver a smooth, soft background, the lens utilizes an 11-blade aperture diaphragm.
The lens weighs 1.58 pounds (720 grams) and is 3.3 inches (83.5 millimeters) long with a 67mm filter thread. The lens can close focus to 1.64 feet (0.5 meters). Featuring a stepless, silent manual aperture control, the lens should work well for recording video in addition to shooting stills. The manual focus lens includes depth of field and distance scales as well.
The Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 Mark III is available now for $799 USD. You can order it by clicking here.
