If you've just bought a Canon EOS M50 mirrorless camera kit with 15-45mm lens and you're puzzled by a charger and battery pairing that don't quite seem to fit with each other, fear not. There's a very simple explanation, as the company yesterday revealed that it accidentally shipped the wrong charger in the package with some EOS M50 15-45mm kits.
If your charger is marked as being the LC-E12 model, designed for charging the LP-E12 battery packs used by the EOS M50, then you're all fine. But if instead you received an LC-E17 charger, then you'll need to contact your local Canon customer support center for advice. (Information for how to proceed if you live in the USA can be found here.)
The LC-E17 chargers incorrectly shipped with some EOS M50 kits are actually intended for charging the LP-E17 battery pack, which is used by the Rebel T6i, T6s, T7i, SL2 and SL3, as well as the EOS M3, M5, M6 and M100. More information on the EOS M50 can be found in our recently-completed Canon EOS M50 review.
