Coverage
Below average coverage accuracy from the optical viewfinder. Excellent accuracy from the LCD in Live View mode.

The Nikon D3500's optical viewfinder yielded about 94 percent coverage with our reference Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 macro lens. This is a little below average for its class (Nikon's specification is approx. 95%) and the viewfinder image is also offset vertically compared to the imaging sensor, which unfortunately is not that uncommon in consumer DSLRs. In Live View mode, the Nikon D3500's LCD showed very close to 100% coverage, which is excellent.
