At long last, our in-depth, real-world review of the updated Canon 7D Mark II is underway. Indeed, landscape and wildlife photographer Jeremy Gray has been battling the cold, Maine winter to bring us the first part of his Canon 7D Mark II Shooter's Report. A long-time Nikon DSLR shooter, the Canon 7D Mark II is definitely a change of scenery, so to speak. However, according to Jeremy, he quickly became accustomed to the control scheme and handling of this flagship APS-C camera.

In this first Part I installment, Jeremy discusses the ergonomics, button layout and other physical features of the camera and shares his initial shooting experience using Dual Pixel CMOS AF for live view shooting, in-camera HDR modes, as well as general photographing using a handful of Canon lenses, including the newly-updated Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS II USM.
