In the wake of Konica Minolta's withdrawal from the consumer imaging market, Sony absorbed the company's camera business, and in June 2006 the Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 became the first fruit of the merger. Today, Sony has unveiled its successor in the form of the Alpha DSLR-A200. (CES '08)
17:00 EST - Rounding out a total of four new models for its NV-series today, Korea's Samsung Techwin Co. Ltd. has taken the wraps off its ultra-compact NV4 digital camera. It should be noted that quite a few of the NV4's specs were marked as preliminary in the information we received, including the image dimensions, internal memory, shutter speeds, flash range, ISO sensitivities and playback zoom. With that proviso, the Samsung NV4 is an eight megapixel camera with a Samsung-branded 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.5" LCD display. Capable of an unusually high resolution... (More) |
Samsung expands its i-series digicam lineup
(CES '08)
17:00 EST - Samsung's announcements today span quite a few of the company's different digicam lines, and one of these models joins its existing i-series. The Samsung i8 is just slightly smaller than the existing i85 model, being 4mm less wide, and 2.5mm shorter than its older sibling. For $50 less than that camera, you get photos with almost exactly the same resolution from an imager of similar size, but the camera's 3x optical zoom Samsung NV lens is rather less versatile than the 5x optical zoom in the i85. The LCD display is also rather smaller,... (More) |
