Canon T5 Optics
The Canon T5 ships with the same kit lens as the T3, the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II, which performed quite well for a kit lens. Since we've already fully tested that lens on SLRgear, please refer to our Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS II review there. We do however present Canon T5 viewfinder accuracy test results below.
Viewfinder Test Results
Accuracy
Fair accuracy from the optical viewfinder, but excellent from the LCD in Live View mode.
70mm, Optical | 70mm, LCD Live View |
The Canon T5's optical viewfinder accuracy is fair, providing about 95% coverage along with minor vertical and horizontal offsets and even a bit of tilt, which is about par for an entry-level DSLR. Live View mode accuracy when using the LCD monitor to frame is excellent, though, with essentially 100% coverage and of course no offset or tilt.
The images above were taken from our standardized test shots. For a collection of more pictorial photos, see our Canon EOS Rebel T5 (EOS 1200D) Photo Gallery .
