Welcome to the Imaging Resource's coverage of the annual Photo Marking Association (PMA) Show, this year being held in Orlando, Florida! If you're serious about digital imaging, PMA is the premier show at which to unveil your hottest new products. Plenty of cameras have already been announced in the last few weeks, and are making their first appearance at the show - Sony have a whopping five brand new cameras, Canon and Samsung have announced four, Fuji have three, Nikon and Kyocera have two, and one more model from HP, plus there's an impressive looking first-time entry from Sigma. Amongst these announcements you'll find four (yes, ) new single lens reflex digital cameras - a market that's becoming increasingly competitive. This looks like it could be the year of the DSLR, a coming of age for a sector that so many readers have been telling us they want to join... :) *Phew* - we can hardly keep up with the pace, and we can promise there'll be more announcements in the days to come!
As usual, Dave and Mike are covering the show live, with reports from the show floor on all the latest imaging products, be they targeted at the Pros, the home user or somewhere in between. You, too, can participate in our forums, where you can discuss the announcements and just what they mean! Also, we've got Newsletter Editor Mike Pasini back in the office to help us keep on top of what's likely to be a flood of press releases - he'll filter the wheat from the chaff and make sure nothing's missed.
As usual, there's a number of side-attractions that are almost as important as the show itself. Digital Focus,a prequel to PMA, is on the evening of February 23rd - and as usual promises to bring many digital camera manufacturers and their latest models into one room. There's also numerous other events, and we'll be attempting to attend as many of them as possible and report what we see. The show itself runs from Sunday February 24th to Wednesday February 27th - and we'll be there for every single day. Want to know more of what to expect? You can find a full list of exhibitors on the PMA website... Stay tuned for an amazing week!
